TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Four Florida State divers will compete in the Southeast Zone Championship meet at the Morcom Aquatic Center from July 9-11 in hopes of qualifying for the U.S. National Championships.
“It’s very exciting to have this meet here in Tallahassee,” FSU diving coach Patrick Jeffrey said. “Our facility is wonderful and to be able to showcase it and have some of the best athletes here including our own is wonderful.”
Seniors Katherine Adham, Jordan Horsley and Landon Marzullo and junior Marcelo Garcia will all be attempting to land themselves in the U.S. Championship meet being held in College Station, Texas, Aug. 10-15. In order to earn a spot at Nationals a diver must finish in the top five in their event.
“This is a really exciting meet for us, especially being at home,” Adham said. “Having the opportunity to dive for the United States and to qualify for Nationals here in Tallahassee is great.”
“I’m ready and having the meet (in Tallahassee) gives me a lot of confidence,” Marzullo said. “I’m excited to dive in a Zone meet because it’s been awhile since I’ve competed in one and it should be fun.”
The meet begins at noon on Friday with preliminaries for the men’s one-meter and women’s three-meter. For results throughout the weekend log on to www.seminoles.com.
In addition to the competition, there will be a talent evaluation period every morning from 9-11 a.m. for kids interested in learning more about the sport of diving. For more information about the meet and the talent evaluation call 644-POOL.
