Seminole Freshman Finishes in Top 50 at Disney Invitational

Tallahassee, Fla. – The Florida State women’s cross country b-team returned from the 9th Annual Walt Disney World Cross Country Classic with a top 15 finish against some of the best programs in the region. The Tribe’s 350 points was enough for 13th place at the race. Freshman Audrey Hand, who crossed the line first for the Seminoles finished in 43rd place overall, in a time of 19:33.04.

Junior Suzanne Shepherd was second for the Tribe, taking 65th place in 19:56.05. Freshman Lauren Kolakowski aand senior Sydney Mondragon finished in 75th and 76th place, in times of 20:06.50 and 20:07.05, respectively. Junior Kristin Walls, freshman Ashley Andress and sophomore Stefanie Bechler rounded out the top seven. Walls recorded a mark of 20:24.35, Andress a time of 20:30.67 and Bechler finished in 20:48.69.

Florida State men’s and women’s teams step up to the next level on the playing field when they head to Terre Haute, Ind. for the NCAA Pre-Nationals meet. The race pairs the top squads in the country with this season’s NCAA Nationals course, for a preview of the field of potential runners and teams as well as the layout of the race.
