TALLAHASSEE, Fla. –
The Southwood Golf Club and the Don Veller Seminole Golf Course will host the 2003 Seminole Pro-Am Invitational Golf Tournament Oct. 10 and 11. The tournament will benefit the Florida State men’s and women’s golf programs with the Pro-Am participants enjoying the opportunity to meet the past, present and professional Seminole golfers and coaches as well as tour the Dave Middleton Golf Center.
Former Seminole All-Americas Jane Geddes, Karen Stupples and Ken Staton are scheduled to participate in the event. Geddes was a member of Florida State’s 1981 A.I.A.W. national championship team and an All-America the same year; Stupples was an All-America in 1995 and a two-time All-ACC selection while Staton was an All-America Honorable Mention selection and led Florida State to a seventh place finish in the NCAA Championship in 1995.
In addition to the former Florida State golf All-Americans, former Seminole quarterback P.T. Willis and Casey Weldon are scheduled to play in the event.
The Pro-Am Tournament begins at Southwood with a shotgun start at 11:30 Friday, followed by an awards ceremony and silent auction at 5:30. A brunch, live auction and professional golf clinic is scheduled for Saturday from 9-11 a.m. at the Don Veller Seminole Golf Course. Registration for the two-day event begins at 10 a.m. Friday morning at Southwood.
Among the items available in the silent and live auctions are beach vacations, golf vacations and golf equipment.
Spaces in the two-day event are going fast and are limited to the first 72 golfers on a first-come, first-serve basis.
