Tallahassee, Fla. – The No. 12 Florida State men’s team won the first NCAA South Region Championship in FSU school history on Saturday, November 13, 2004 at the Harry Pritchard Golf Course in Tuscaloosa, Ala. The men finished with 59 points behind four NCAA South Region honorees. Four of the top five men’s runners posted personal best marks putting FSU in first place, one spot ahead of Florida, who finished with 71 points.
“To win the team championship is incredibly exciting,” boasted Braman. “We ran a very tactical meet. It helped our pack guys but not Lemoncello, who finished fifth. The group did a great job. It puts us on schedule for what we’re trying to do for nationals.”
Junior Andrew Lemoncello (St. Andrews, Scotland/Stirling) posted a 10K personal best mark of 29:47.69 to finish fifth. Senior captain Eddy Rodriguez (Miami, FL/FIU) was second for the Seminoles, recording a time of 30:05.38 for eighth place. Sophomore Tom Lancashire (Bolton, England/Turton) and senior Ian Hornabrook (Queensland, Australia/Rend Lake College) crossed the tape in 12th and 13th place, respectively. Lancashire had a personal 10K best (30:11.99) and Hornabrook (30:14.04) also recorded his fastest 10K time.
