PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. –
Florida State junior Matt Adcock carded a six-over par 78 and is the Seminoles’ individual leader after the first round of the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championship at the Sawgrass Country Club Ocean Course as play in the first round of the event was completed Sunday.

The temperature on the golf course never rose up the low 50s and 20 mph winds presided over the course.

South Carolina leads the field of 18 teams after firing an even par 288 on the first day. Florida is 11 shots back in second place at 299 while Tennessee is third at 303, Louisiana State is fourth at 305 and NCAA defending champion Clemson is in fifth place with a 306 total

Adcock (Apopka, Fla.) led the Seminoles with a scored of 78. He is in a tie for 31st place after the first round of the event. Adcock finished in a tie for 20th place at last week’s Gator Invitational – the first event of the spring for the Seminoles.

Junior Rusty Mosley (Vidalia, Ga.) carded a seven-over par 79 and is in a tie for 41st place in the individual standings. He, too, finished in a tie for 20th place at the Gator Invitational.
