Seminole Men’s Golf Team Competing In 50th Annual ACC Championship

NEW LONDON, N.C. –
The Florida State men’s golf is in ninth place and Seminole sophomore Matt Adcock is in a tie for 23rd in the individual standings at the 50th annual Atlantic Coast Conference Championship at the Old North State Golf Course at Uhwarrie Point. Adcock, who is competing in the event for the first time in his career, shot a three-over par 75 in the second round and is the top ranked Seminole after two rounds of play.


Wake Forest turned in a team score of 282 and holds a one stoke lead over North Carolina heading into Sunday’s final round of play. Current individual leader, Bill Haas, holds a four-stroke lead over three players including Wake Forest teammate Brent Wanner, leads the Demon Deacons.


Adcock (Apopka, Fla.) carded the Seminoles’ best score of the day with his 75. It marked the team leading 10th time he has carded a score of 75 or better in six tournaments this spring. Adcock begins third-round play well within striking distance of moving up in the individual standings.


Junior Tim Vickers (Alpharetta, Ga.) is also in position to improve his individual standing as he carded a four-over par 76 and is in a tie for 26th place with a 153 two-day total. He improved his single round score by one stroke in the second round after carding a 77 in the first round of the event.


Sophomore Rusty Mosley (Vidalia, Ga.) and freshman Adam Wallace (Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.) are neck and neck in the individual standings and are in 36th and a tie for 37th place respectively. Sophomore Mark Sestilio (Punta Gorda, Fla.) is in a tie for 39th place with a 36-hole total of 159.


Play begins in the third round of the event at 8:30 a.m. Sunday morning.
