April 9, 2005

HOLLY SPRINGS, N.C. –
Florida State counted a pair of 72’s by junior Jacob Davis and senior Rusty Mosley and finished in eighth place in the Courtyard by Marriott Intercollegiate at Devils Ridge Golf Club as play in the rain-shortened came to a close Saturday. The event was shortened from 54 holes to 36 after rain wrecked havoc on the field and the course during the first day of the event.

Duke made up seven strokes on Georgia Southern and one stroke on Wake Forest in the second round to take the team title with a 560 team score. The Blue Devils defeated the Eagles and the Demon Deacons by one stroke in the final standings. Michael Schachner led Duke with a par of 68’s for a 136 total and finished in a tie for second place. His Blue Devil teammate Ryan Blaum finished in a tie for fourth place with a 137 total for the two rounds. Aron Price of Georgia Southern earned individual medalist honors with a 14-under par total of 130. He shot a 64 in the first round and a 66 in the second round.

He has now earned two top 25 finishes this spring after finishing in a tie for 15th place at the Seminole Intercollegiate in March. Davis’ two round score of 144 marks his best score for 36 holes in his five tournament Seminole career.

He has played well for the Seminoles in the last two events with two scores at 73 or below and five scores at 77 or below. Mosley’s average over the last two weekends is 75.00 strokes per round.

Freshman Jonas Blixt (Nassjo, Sweden), who led the Seminoles with a two-under par 70 in the first round, finished with a 75 in the second round and a 145 total.
