Seminole Men’s Golf Team In Fifth Place After Two Rounds Of Billy Hitchcock Intercollegiate

AUBURN, Ala. –
Florida State junior Peter Mitchell shot a near-career low 71 and is in a tie for sixth place in the individual standings and the Seminoles are in a tie for fifth in the team standings at the Billy Hitchcock Intercollegiate men’s golf tournament at Saugahatchee Country Club. Mitchell begins Sunday’s third and final round only four strokes behind the current individual leader Kevin Haefner of Auburn.


Mitchell’s 71 came on the heels of his even par 72 in Friday’s first round. His two-round total of 143 is one stroke better than his previous two-round best, a 144, which he shot at the Gator Invitational in February. Mitchell is looking for his second top-10 finish of the season.


Sophomore Brad Lusenhop is in a tie for 13th-place. He is only two strokes behind teammate Mitchell and six strokes behind the tournament leader.


Florida State is tied for fifth with Jacksonville as both teams have a two-round total of 583. The Seminoles trail fourth place Mississippi State by three strokes, third place Southeastern Louisiana by for and Southern Methodist by five strokes.


The final round begins Sunday at 8:30 a.m.
