Seminole Men’s Golf Team In Sixth Place At Mason Rudolph Intercollegiate

Sept. 27, 2004

Franklin, Tenn. –
Senior Rusty Mosley is in a tie for 10th place with a two-under par total of 140 and the Florida State men’s golf team is in a sixth place in the team standings after the first two rounds of the Mason Rudolph Intercollegiate at the Ropers Knob Course at the Legends Club of Vanderbilt University. Mosley played very well and very consistently over the first 36 holes of the 54-hole event and finished with identical scores of 70 to lead the Seminoles into the upper half of the team standings.

Georgia State holds the overall team lead with two of the top three golfers in the individual standings at the top of the leader board. Ty Harris shot an eight-under par 63 in the first round and a three-under par 68 in the second round to finish with an 11-under par total of 131. He is the current individual leader. Teammate Darren Baynes is in a tie for second place with a five-under par 137.

Florida State played two outstanding team rounds to begin their second tournament of the fall season. Sophomore Bradley Ruch (Louisville, Ky.) led the Seminoles with career-low tying 69 while Mosley (Vidalia, Ga.) and senior captain Matt Adcock (Apopka, Fla.) carded one-under par scores of 70 in the first round. Freshman Jonas Blixt (Nassjo, Sweden) also played well and finished the first round with an even par 70. As the team, the Seminoles shot a 280 and were in fourth place after the first 18 holes.

Molsey established a personal best for 36 holes with his 140 total on the day. His previous best over 36 holes was 142 during the first two rounds of the spring 2003 Atlanta Intercollegiate. It marked the sixth and seventh times Mosley has carded a 70 or better during his Florida State career. Mosley’s career-best single-round score of 67 came during the first round of the spring 2004 Billy Hitchcock Intercollegiate.

Adcock and Ruch are in a group of seven in a tie for 28th in the individual standings. Adcock followed his first round 70 with a three-over par 73 while Ruch followed his first-round 69 with a four over par 75. Adcock’s 143 score for 36 holes is tied for the third best two-round score of his Seminole career. Ruch’s 143 total tied his career-best for a 36-hole total during his two year collegiate career.

Blixt, who has played well as a freshman in two events, carded a one-over par 71 and a three-over par 74 in first and second round action. He has now carded four rounds out of five at 75 or better during the first two rounds of the season. Jacob Davis (DeLand, Fla.) played the second round in a two-over par 73 after beginning his collegiate career with a 78 in the first round.

The event concludes with 18 holes of golf Tuesday morning.
