Seminole Men’s Golf Team Opens Fall Season At Kiawah Island Invitational

KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. –
Florida State sophomore Brad Lusenhop shot a career-best two-under par 70 in the first round and is in a tie for 21st place after two rounds of the of Cleveland Golf/Kiawah Island Intercollegiate at the Osprey Point Golf Course. The Seminoles are in 13th place in the team standings heading into Tuesday’s third and final round.


The host College of Charleston team leads the event with a 10-under par score of 566. Brigham Young, Alabama and Augusta State are all tied for second and only three strokes off the lead. David Ryles of Charleston Southern is currently in first place in the individual standings with a two-round total of nine-under par 135.


Competing for the Seminoles for the first time the 2000 Atlantic Coast Conference championships, Lusenhop fired a career-low 70 in the first round and followed that with a two-over par 74 for a two-round total of 144. His previous 36-hole low was 147 in the Bridges All-American Intercollegiate during the spring of 2000 and the Louisiana State Intercollegiate in the fall of 1999. Lusenhop (Gloversville, N.Y.) looks to finish strong in the third round and better his collegiate career-best final round score of 75 (2000 ACC Championship) and best finish of tied for 34th (2000 Bridges All-American).


A trio of Seminole newcomers, Matt Adcock, Eric Beaty and Alan Beers, are competing for Florida State (and collegiately) for the first time. Adcock and Beers transferred from Mississippi State while Beaty is a true freshman. Beers shot a 72 and Beaty a 71in today’s second round as the Seminoles cut seven strokes from the first round score to finish the day with a 595 total.
