GREENSBORO, N.C. – Sophomore Sarah Hamilton was awarded the ACC Pitcher of the Week award for the second time this year following a stellar showing in Florida State’s first home ACC series against Virginia Tech last weekend.
The Tallahassee, Fla., native threw seven innings, gave up just three hits, two walks and struck out eight batters as she picked up her 10th win of the season in the 6-0 FSU victory over the Hokies on Saturday.
Hamilton was called in for three innings on Sunday, allowing no hits or runs while punching out six of 10 batters faced. Despite her best efforts, she was unable to pick up her first save of the year as the Noles were shutout 2-0 by Tech.
The righty now leads the Florida State pitching staff with a 1.16 overall ERA (1.04 in the ACC) and 173 season strikeouts.
The Seminoles, now 27-12/5-4 on the season, enter a busy week beginning starting with a home doubleheader against Troy on Tuesday, April 7, before making the trip to Gainesville to face in-state rival Florida on Wednesday. Both match-ups will start at 6:00 p.m. with GameTracker live stats available on www.seminoles.com. FSU will continue conference play as it hosts Maryland on Easter weekend, April 11 and 12, at JoAnne Graf Field.
