Seminole Softball Continues League Play With A Three-Game Series Against NC State Monday and Tuesday

    The 20th-ranked Florida State softball squad continues its six-game road trip with a three-game series against NC State Monday and Tuesday. Monday’s doubleheader begins at 1:00 p.m. and live stats and audio are available for both contests right here at, the official website of the Florida State softball team.     The Seminoles are 14-7 overall and 2-1 in ACC action. FSU defeated the North Carolina Tar Heels twice last Friday (2-0, 6-3) before dropping a game to UNC Saturday (3-2). Meanwhile, the Pack is 21-9 on the season and the series with FSU marks the first league outing for NC State.

    Only two Seminoles are batting above .300: junior left fielder Natasha Jacob owns a .377 (23-61) mark and sophomore right fielder LaShaun Davis has a .333 (16-48) batting average. Jacob leads the Seminoles with eight stolen bases and a perfect 1.000 fielding clip. Davis and freshman center fielder Whitney Buckmon are second on the team with five stolen bases, respectively.

    NFCA All-American pitcher Casey Hunter has a 7-6 record and a 1.03 ERA. Freshman ace Tiffany McDonald is a perfect 7-0 with a league-low 0.79 ERA. Hunter has thrown 117 strikeouts on the season and McDonald has allowed just 27 hits.

    Florida State has struggled defensively this season. The Seminoles are fielding .943 and have committed 35 errors as opposed to the opponents .960 fielding mark and 27 miscues. As a team, the Seminoles are hitting .268 and the pitchers have held teams to a .173 mark.

    The Seminoles will play three games against NC State before returning home for the eight-team FSU Invitational that begins Friday, March 11.
