Seminole Softball Team Hits The Road

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — The 7-3 Florida State softball team will hit
the road for two in-state series this weekend. Stop one will be on
Saturday, February 19th in the first-ever meeting between the Seminoles and
Bethune-Cookman. The doubleheader will begin at 1 p.m. FSU will continue
action on Sunday, February 20th with a doubleheader at Stetson, also
beginning at 1 p.m. The Tribe is 12-1 all-time vs. the Hatters, but the
two clubs have not met since the 1996 season when FSU defeated Stetson 1-0
and 6-2.

Florida State newcomer Rita Brooks, a junior from Cottondale, Ala.,
currently leads the team with 14 hits, 12 runs and a .424 batting average.
Senior cather Teresa Edenfield, of Marianna, is the team-leader with 11
RBIs while Drake transfer Natalie Bennett is close behind with 10 RBIs.
Brooks and freshman Brandi Stuart, of Cerritos, Calif., leads the squad on
the basepaths with 10 stolen bases apiece.

The Seminoles will travel to Boca Raton, February 26-27, to
participate in the Florida Atlantic Tournament.
