Seminole Student Boosters is proud to present the third annual “Seminole Uprising Pep Rally” with portions of the event to be broadcasted live on ESPN’s “25 Hours of College Football,” featuring ESPN reporter Wendi Nix. The pep rally will take place Wednesday, August 29 at Florida State‘s Tully Gymnasium. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the event will kick off at 7:00 p.m. EST.

The event will include special appearances by head football coach Bobby Bowden, the world-renowned Marching Chiefs, the Florida State cheerleaders as well as other notable guests. Florida State‘s Ryan Pensy, Director of Digital Media and the voice of the women’s basketball team, will act as Master of Ceremonies for the event.

“We are excited to have the pep rally broadcasted on ESPN this year,” said Senior Associate Athletics Director Kim Record. “Seminole Uprising is a great way to kick off the year by celebrating Seminole athletics and recognizing the numerous accomplishments of our student-athletes and coaches.”

All current student-athletes and coaches will be in attendance, highlighted by Coach Bowden, who will say a few words about the upcoming football season. Special recognition will be given to the men’s track and field team, which earned its second straight National Championship in June. The Marching Chiefs and the Florida State cheerleaders will perform throughout the evening, showcasing Seminole spirit and many of the school traditions.

“This special event is a perfect way to get the student body energized about all Florida State sports,” said Seminole Uprising Coordinator and Student Boosters Vice President Kat White. “Student Boosters is incredibly proud to have ESPN broadcasting live from the pep rally. We want the nation to see how proud we are to be Seminoles and how much we appreciate and celebrate the traditions of our university.”

With nearly 2000 members, Seminole Student Boosters is the largest student organization in the state. Members of Student Boosters have the opportunity to receive priority tickets to home and away games, coach and player interaction, a t-shirt, a car tag and a yearly 10 percent discount card from Bill’s Bookstore.

Seminole Student Boosters recently launched the TRUE Seminole campaign along with the Student Government Association (SGA) to unify the Seminole community through: Tradition, Respect, Unity and Excellence. The campaign launched its first project this summer by unveiling the TRUE Pride Tee which has been recognized by the FSU Athletics Department as “The Official Game Day Shirt.” A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Seminole Boosters Scholarship Endowment Fund as well as help SGA in providing need based aid.

“The TRUE Seminole campaign relies on the support of the student body,” explained Seminole Student Boosters President Joe Mahshie. “Seminole Uprising is a perfect way to encourage students to show their school spirit by wearing their TRUE Pride Tee.”

Seminole Student Boosters are asking those attending the Seminole Uprising Pep Rally to wear their Seminole Student Boosters t-shirt or their TRUE Pride Tee as the event is aimed to encourage school spirit and provide the student body the opportunity to interact with student-athletes and coaches.

“Last year’s attendance exceeded 3000 guests,” said White. “With the presence of ESPN, we anticipate another incredible turn out.”
