TALLAHASSEE, Fla – The Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving team will head to Alabama this weekend for two meets. On Friday, January 18, the Seminoles will take on the University of Alabama at 4 p.m. The Crimson Tide come into this meet ranked 22nd in the nation with a 1-3 record. The Lady Crimson Tide are unranked with their record at 1-3 as well. On Saturday, January 19, the Noles will face nationally-ranked Auburn. The No. 5 Lady Tigers are undefeated this season with a perfect 7-0 record. At 5-1, the men are ranked No. 4 in the nation and are coming off a tough loss to top ranked Texas last week.
This will be the Seminoles fifth meet against nationally-ranked opponents this year. The men carry three straight wins into this weekend’s action and the Seminoles have move their record back to above .500 at 6-4. The Lady Seminoles had won three straight meets before coming up short last weekend against No. 8 Texas. The Lady Noles are 7-3.
The Seminoles earned two wins over the winter holiday, scoring victories over ACC foe North Carolina State and Indian River Community College. The men defeated the Wolfpack 165-151, while the women won 175-136. The Seminoles then traveled to Ft. Pierce to take on Indian River at the IRCC Relays. The men and women came away victorious defeating the Pioneers 49-28.
The Seminoles will host their final home meet against Coach Harper’s alma mater, the Tigers of Louisiana State University. The meet will be on February 3 at 1 p.m. on the Florida State campus at the Bobby E. Leach Center. Admission is free and all are encouraged to come and cheer on the Seminoles.
