TALLAHASSEE, Fla. –
The Florida State Swimming and Diving Team returned to Robert Stults Aquatic Center on Saturday to take on the Pioneers of Indian River Community College. The Lady Seminoles defeated the Pioneers 177.50 to 65.50. The men’s team lost a close meet 124 to 119 to the Pioneers.
The Lady Noles took first place in 12 of 13 events, including both the 400 Medley and Freestyle relays. The Noles were lead by Kristen Adams, who won both the 100 Free (52.89) and 200 Free (1:55.44). Other top performers included Candice Nethercott in the 200 Fly (2:06.97) and Keryn Krynauw in the 200 Breast in a time of 2:21.32. The Noles also received top performances from Christy Cech, Summer Bell, Amber Goodwin and Jennifer Smith. In diving, Michelle Sekeres won the 1-meter dive and Chelsie Lerew took the 3-meter dive.
The Seminoles lost a hard fought meet against the Pioneers. The men were lead by Greg Main-Baillie winning the 200 Free in 1:47.73 and brought the Noles from behind to steal the victory in the 400 Free relay. Other top performers included Richard Crowling in the 200 Individual Medley in a time of 1:54.68. In diving, James Korten won the 1-meter dive and Josh Edelman placed second in the 3-meter dive.
The Florida State women’s team runs their record to 4-1 while the men drop to .500 at 3-3. Indian River Community College remains undefeated at 3-0, while the Lady Pioneers drop to 0-3.
Both the Men and Women get back into action this Friday, November 17, 2000 against the University of Florida at the Leach Center beginning at 4:00p.m.
