Seminole Women’s Golf Team Competing At Lady Gamecock Invitational

BLYTHEWOOD, S.C. –
Junior Caroline Larsson and freshman Whitney Brummett are tied for 21st in the individual standings and the Seminole women’s golf team is in 10th place after the first round of the Lady Gamecock Invitational at the University Club. The first round was played in weather not very becoming of a mid-spring golf tournament with winds gusting to 30 mph and temperatures hovering around the 60 degree mark.

New Mexico leads the team standings with a 308 score while Caroline Rominger of South Carolina, the only player to shoot par or better, leads the individual standings. Rominger shot an even par score of 72. New Mexico, ranked 13th nationally, is the highest ranked team in the 12-team field.

Larsson (Danderyd, Sweden) and Brummett (Eureka, Mo.) carded first round scores of 80 to lead the Seminoles. Junior Jaclyn Burch (Wildwood, Mo.) and freshman Whitney Wright (Rockingham, N.C.) are in a tie for 51st place with identical scores of 84. Sophomore Michelle Steakin (Wellington, Fla.) is also competing for the Seminoles; she is in 57th place with a score of 86. Junior Kristina Prestipino, who is competing as an individual, carded an 87.

The event continues with a second round of 18 holes Saturday and concludes Sunday.
