Seminole Women’s Golf Team Finishes Seventh At Landfall Tradition

WILMINGTON, N.C. –
Florida State senior Alison Curdt finished in a tie for 14th place in the individual standings and the Seminole women’s golf team finished in seventh place in the team standings as play in the Landfall Tradition at the Country Club of Landfall came to a completion. Curdt led a trio of Seminoles who finished in the top 30 of the individual standings with the eighth top 15 finish of her career.


New Mexico led the event wire to wire and claimed the team championship with a four-stroke victory over Tulane. The Lobos led throughout the event and had two golfers finish in the top 10 of the individual standings. Amanda McCurdy of Arkansas claimed individual medalist honors by one stroke over Mary Ellen Jacobs of Tulane and Kailin Downs of New Mexico who finished in a tie for second place.


Curdt (St. Louis, Mo.) closed the tournament well as she carded a two-over par 74 in the third and final round. She spent the entire tournament in the top 15 of the individual standings after shooting a one over par 73 in the first round. Curdt earned three top 15 finishes this spring – fourth at the University of Alabama Tournament and 11th at the New Mexico State University Tournament.


Senior Katie Quinney (Atlantic Beach, Fla.) finished the event on a strong note with a two-over par score of 74 in the third round. She carded identical scores of 74 in the second and third rounds to finish in 22nd place. Quinney finished in the top 25 of all four of Florida State’s tournaments this fall.


Sophomore Caroline Larsson (Danderyd, Sweden) also closed the fall season on an up note as she carded a four-over par 76 in the final round of the event. She shot a 74 in the second round and a 76 in the third round to move up to 30th place after holding a tied for 43rd place standing after the first round. Jaclyn Burch (Wildwood, Mo.) and Carrie Sordel (Windermere, Fla.) also participated in the tournament for the Seminoles.


The event closed the fall season for the Seminoles who earned four top-10 finishes in four events including the team championship at the University of Alabama Tournament. Florida State opens its spring season at the Lady Gator Invitational beginning March 7, 2004.
