ATHENS, Ga. –
The Florida State University women’s golf team is in sixth place after the first two rounds of the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic at the University of Georgia Golf Course. The Seminoles are led by freshman Caroline Westrup who shot a one-over par 73 in the second round and who begins the second round only two shots out of first place in the individual standings.
Nicole Hage of Auburn, Chris Brady of Vanderbilt, and Amber Prange of Washington are currently tied atop the leader board, each with a four-over 148 for the weekend. Georgia senior Jackie Beers and Amanda Goins of Wake Forrest are both one stroke behind the leaders at 149. Junior Whitney Wade of Georgia and Prange were the only golfers under par today, each shooting a one-under 71.
Westrup (Ahus, Sweden), who was one of five golfers in the 94-player field, to shoot a 73 or better in the second round, has a total of six-over par 150 for the first 36 holes. She moved up 20 spaces in the individual standings after beginning the tournament with a 77 in Friday’s first round.
Senior Caroline Larsson (Danderyd, Sweden) is in a tie for 12th place in the individual standings after shooting a three-over par 75 in the second round. She has an eight-over par total of 152 heading in to the third round.
The final round of the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic begins with a shotgun start Sunday morning at 9:00.
