The Florida State women’s golf team, which has finished in the top 10 of the team standings in six of its seven events this year, continues its six-match spring regular season schedule as it travels to the 2013 Bryan National Collegiate at the Bryan Park Golf and Enrichment Center in Greensboro, N.C., March 29-31, 2013. The Seminoles, currently ranked 43rd nationally by GolfStat, will face seven top 25 teams including four ACC teams ranked in the top 25 as they work to improve their national standing.

Florida State is joined by No. 2 Duke, No. 5 Florida, No. 8 Arkansas, No. 9 North Carolina, No. 15 Virginia, No. 18 Georgia, No. 20 NC State, Auburn, Louisville, Michigan State, UNC Greensboro, UNC Wilmington, South Carolina, Tennessee, Vanderbilt and Wake Forest in the 16th Annual Bryan National Collegiate on the Champions Course at the Bryan Park Golf and Enrichment Center in Greensboro, N.C. The Par 72, 6,386 yard course was the host course for the 2010 U.S. Amateur Public Links Championship. The Champions Course at Bryan Park opened in 1990 and was ranked as one of the best new public courses in the country at the time of its opening by Golf Digest.
FLORIDA STATE’S HISTORY AT THE BRYAN NATIONAL COLLEGIATE
Florida State won the team championship of the 2010 Bryan National Collegiate as it earned a one stroke win over Wake Forest. The Seminoles were led in the event by three players – Macarena Silva (fifth), Hannah Thomson (tied for 10th) and Lacey Agnew (tied for 10th) – who finished in the top 10 of the individual standings. Former Seminole great Louise Wright finished in a Florida State best second place in the individual standings of the event in leading the Seminoles to an eighth place finish in the team standings in 2000.
SEMINOLES FINISH STRONG AT 2012 BRYAN NATIONAL COLLEGIATE
Jessica Negron finished in a tie for fifth place in the individual standings and the Seminole women’s golf team finished in third place in the team standings at the 2012 Bryan National Collegiate. Negron (tied for fifth) and freshman Laure Castelain (tied for ninth) both finished in the top 10 of the individual standings to give the Seminoles a pair of top 10 individual finishers as they earned their third top three team finish of the spring.
FLORIDA STATE HAS STRONG HISTORY IN THE BRYAN NATIONAL COLLEGIATE
Florida State has earned a pair of top three team finishes (first in 2010 and third in 2012) in its last two appearances in the Bryan National Collegiate. The Seminoles will play in the event for the ninth time since it began in 1998 and have earned six top 10 team finishes in their first eight appearances in the event. A total of seven different Seminoles including Jessica Negron (tied for fifth in 2012) and Laure Castelain (tied for ninth in 2012) have earned top 10 individual finishes in the Seminoles’ first eight appearances in the Bryan National.
NEGRON AMONG TOP GOLFERS IN ACC
Senior Jessica Negron (Ocala, Fla.) enters the 2013 Bryan National Collegiate ranked seventh in the ACC with a career best 74.17 stroke average in 18 rounds during seven tournaments this year. She leads the team in stroke average, rounds scored at par or better (seven), rounds scored at 75 or better (13 of 18) and her score of 70 in the second round of the Florida State Match-Up is the best single round score of the fall and spring seasons by any of the Seminole players this year.
NEGRON CONTINUES TO LEAD FLORIDA STATE
Senior Jessica Negron, who will play in her 40th career event at the Bryan National Collegiate this weekend, has been Florida State’s leading golfer (or tied for the team lead) in each of the Seminoles’ last three events and in four of their seven events this year. She has now finished atop the Seminoles’ leaderboard in eight events during her career including during the 2011 Bryan National Collegiate.
CASTELAIN EARNS TOP 20 FINISH AT LSU TIGER CLASSIC
Sophomore Laure Castelain finished in a tie for 16th place in the individual standings at the LSU Tiger Classic to mark her second top 20 finish of the spring season (she finished in a tie for 18th place at the Florida Challenge) and the fourth top 20 finish of her career. Castelain finished in a career best tied for ninth place in the individual standings in the spring 2012 Bryan National Collegiate.
HULLERT FINISHES IN THE TOP 20 FOR THE THIRD TIME IN FOUR EVENTS
Freshman Olivia Hullert (Baerum, Norway) finished in a tie for 16th place in the individual standings at the LSU Tiger Classic – the third time this spring she has finished in the top 20 of the individual standings in four events. She finished in a career best tied for fifth place at the Florida Challenge on January 28, 2013.
