TUSCALOOSA, Ala. –
The Florida State University women’s golf team, led by Katie Quinney and Alison Curdt who finished in third and fourth place in the individual standings, rallied from four strokes behind entering the final round to claim the championship of the University of Alabama / Ann Rhoads Intercollegiate at the Capstone Club of Alabama as play in the rain-shortened event concluded Tuesday. The team victory was the first of the fall season and third in the last two years for the Seminoles who placed 19th at the NCAA Championship Tournament in 2003.

Quinney (Atlantic Beach, Fla.), a senior, finished in third place in the individual standings with a 36-hole total of 149. She carded a 75 in Tuesday’s second round after finishing with a 74 Monday. Quinney’s individual finish was the second time during her collegiate career she had finished third and the sixth time she had earned a top-10 finish.

Curdt (St. Louis, Mo.), also a senior, finished fourth with a two-day total of 150. She led the Seminoles with a three-over par score of 74 in the second round to earn her highest career finish and first top-10 finish of her career. Prior to this event, her best individual finish was a tie for 12th at the fall 2002 ACC/SEC Challenge.

She jumped 12 spots in the individual standings and finished 12th in the final standings from her 24th-place spot after the first round.
