Seminole Women’s J.V. Golf Team Finishes Third At Daytona Beach

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. –
Led by sophomore Michelle Steakin, the Florida State University women’s golf junior varsity team finished third in the Embry-Riddle Bash at the Beach tournament which was played at the Daytona Beach Golf Course. Steakin led three Seminoles in the top-15 of the individual standings as the Seminoles competed in their second junior varsity tournament of the spring season.

Steakin (Wellington, Fla.) finished in fifth place in the individual standings as she carded a three-over par 74 in the second round of the event. She improved her score by nine strokes after carding an 83 in the first. Steakin was followed by freshman Ashley Kemp (Tampa, Fla.), who finished sixth, and freshman Kim Haskins, who finished in a tie for 14th place. Junior Kristina Prestipino (Coral Springs, Fla.) finished in a tie for 20th place while junior Jennifer Harvey (Fairfax Station, Va.) finished in a tied for 29th place.

Daytona Beach Community College won the team championship while Heidi Lowe of Embry-Riddle won the individual championship.
