The night before the balls starting bouncing at Florida State’s Basketball Training Center for the first day of official practice on October 16th, members of the Seminole women’s basketball team were out on the town helping Kids Incorporated with events at the Downtown Getdown in the heart of Tallahassee.
Don’t you wish you could be a little kid playing with arts and crafts, gluing macaroni to paper plates, getting dirty in birdseed and eating funnel cakes? Seminoles Shante Williams, Alicia Gladden, Linnea Liljestrand and Christie Lautsch sure do, so they chose to be kids again and enjoyed some community service at the same time! But it wasn’t ALL fun and games for the FSU players. They played double duty. Not only did they get to play with the children and help them with their crafts, they also helped set up various stations at the Downtown Getdown for host Kids Incorporated, handing out program flyers and conducted surveys for single mothers.
The evening was educational and a fun and rewarding way to reach out to the community of Tallahassee!
