Seminoles Begin NCAA Indoor Championships

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Tonya Carter was the first Seminole to see
action at the 1999 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships at the RCA Dome.
Carter, a junior from Douglasville, GA, ran in the prelims of the women’s
60m dash Friday afternoon. The All-ACC sprinter did not qualify for the
finals as she ran 7.45 to finish fifth in her heat. Carter qualfied for
NCAA competition with a second place time of 7.36 at the ACC Indoors
earlier this season.


The women’s 4x400m relay team (Laura Gerber, Samantha George,
Chinette Johnson and Fiona Norwood) will run tomorrow night. Jason Dean
(pole vault) and Joseph Lawrence (weight throw) will represent the
Seminoles in the field events tomorrow as well. Listed below are
Saturday’s scheduled start times.

  • Women’s 4x400m – 7:55 p.m.
  • Men’s pole vault – 5:30 p.m.
  • Men’s weight throw – 6:20 p.m.

Results will be available following Saturday evening’s final events.
