Tallahassee, Fla. – The Florida State women’s tennis (9-8, 4-5 ACC) lost 5-2, to the eighth-ranked Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets Invitational (14-2, 7-0) on Saturday, April 9, 2005 at the Bill Moore Tennis Center in Atlanta, Ga. Senior Mihaela Moldovan (Bucharest, Romania/Emil Racovita) and sophomore Roxanne Clarke (Cape Town, South Africa/Clapham) put two points on the board for the Seminoles against the Yellow Jackets, who extended their seven match conference win streak.
In doubles, FSU won at the number two position marking only the second time the Seminoles have lost doubles in league play. Clarke and senior Amberly Tantee (Dana Point, Calif./Futures) beat Dasha Potapova and Lyndsay Shosho (GT) 8-5.
At the number one doubles position, Moldovan and junior Lindsay Deason (Ft. Myers, Fla./Boca Raton Prep) dropped a tough match 15th-ranked Kristi Miller and Alison Silverio, 8-6.
In singles #17 Moldovan picked up her 15th win of the season in defeating higher-ranked, #14 Miller in straight sets, 7-5, 6-2. Clarke won at the number three position with a final tally of 7-5, 7-6 (7-5) over Kelly Anderson.
