Seminoles Championship Run Ends At ITA Mideast Regionals

CHAPEL HILL, N.C.–After a successful week at the 2005 Intercollegiate Tennis Association Mideast Regional Championships at the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Complex, the Seminoles’ Jonathas Sucupira fell in the semifinals of the singles bracket and concluded his run towards the singles crown. 


The main draw started with a 128-player singles bracket and after a first round bye, 17th-seeded Sucupira won four straight matches.  His tournament-ending loss came at the helm of Duke’s fifth-seeded Jonathan Stokke by scores of 6-4, 3-6, 6-3. 



In doubles play, Florida State’s fifth-seeded team of Sam Chang and Sucupira came up short in the quarterfinals to second-seeded Joey Atas and Stokke of Duke in a narrow 9-8(5) loss.
