Seminoles Come Up Short Versus American, 77-72

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) – Patrick Doctor scored 18 points, and Vladimir
Buscaglia added 16 as American University upset Florida State 77-72 Saturday.

The Eagles (4-6) hit 14 of 15 free throws in the game, including 12 straight
in the final 6:16 to notch their first win ever over an Atlantic Coast
Conference school.

Doctor, coming off the bench, was 5-of-6 shooting and perfect on eight free
throw attempts. Glenn Stokes was 5-for-6 from 3-point range and finished with
15 points.

Monte Cummings scored 20 points for Florida State (4-5), which has lost
non-conference home games to American and Western Carolina in the last two
weeks.

The Seminoles couldn’t stop the hot-shooting Eagles, who hit 51 percent for
the game, 11-of-22 from 3-point range and 93 percent from the free-throw line.

Antwuan Dixon scored 17 points and Mike Mathews added 10 for Florida State.
The Seminoles played without freshman Anthony Richardson, who was suspended for
the game for an unspecified violation of team rules.
