Seminoles Complete Second Round Of The Derby Invitational

AUBURN, Ala. − The Florida State Seminole women’s golf team is in 16th place after the second round of play at The Derby Invitational, hosted by Auburn University.

 

Pacing FSU is the play of Macarena Silva, who posted her second consecutive round of 78 and stands in a tie for 42nd place with a two-round score of 156. Tied with Silva is Lauren Cousart who posted an 81 during the tournament’s second round of play in posting a score of 156 heading into the final round of play.

 

Hannah Thomson recorded an 86 during the second round and sits in a tie of 72nd place with tournament score of 162 while Whitney Wenglasz’s score of 84 gives her a tournament score of 165, which ties her for 79th place.

 

Overall, the Seminoles stand in 16th place with a tournament team score of 639. FSU carded a second round score of 329.

 

Arizona State leads the tournament with a two-round score of 584, after posting a team-low mark of 284 during the second round. Virginia, the leader after the opening round, carded a 298 and is three strokes back of the Sun Devils for the tournament lead.

 

The third and final 18-hole round is set for Sunday. The Seminoles earned their best Derby finish in 1998 when they finished in second place behind Georgia.
