TALLAHASSEE, Fla. –
Antwuan Dixon scored 16 points and had seven rebounds to lead Florida State to a 79-57 win Thursday over Binghamton University.
Dixon scored eight points, including two three-pointers, in a 10-0 run to start the second half as Florida State (3-8) built a 49-25 lead.
The Seminoles used its height advantage and a trapping defense to fluster Binghamton (4-5). The Bearcats hit only 33.9 percent of their shots and trailed by as many as 31 points in the second half.
Seminoles coach Steve Robinson praised Dixon, who scored 14 points and grabbed four rebounds in the second half.
“The way he’s been playing has just been really outstanding,” Robinson said.
Jeffrey St. Fort led Binghamton with nine points, while Gabriel Martin scored eight.
Binghamton led only once, 13-12, when Joost Ooms hit a 3-point shot with 13:07 left in the first half. Florida State followed with a 22-5 run to build a 39-25 halftime lead.
“We hung in there for a while, but we were overmatched physically,” Binghamton coach Al Walker said.
