TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) – Tim Pickett led the Florida State University Seminoles with 28 points and five defensive rebounds in a 84-70 victory Sunday over the EA Sports All-Stars.
It was the Seminoles’ first win for new coach Leonard Hamilton and evened their exhibition record to 1-1.
Florida State took a 45-37 halftime lead and never trailed in the second half, though EA Sports closed the gap to 2 with 7:12 to play. Pickett responded by posting the Seminoles’ next eight points, including a pair of three-pointers, to make it 74-68 at the 4:28 mark.
Andrew Wilson added 17 points for Florida State.
“I was glad to see (him) start shooting the ball a little more,” Hamilton said of Wilson. “He’s such an unselfish player … we’ve encouraged him to be a little more offensive-minded.”
Santa Clara product Brian Jones led EA Sports with 19 points; Matt Garrison and Aaron Swinson respectively added 14 and 13.
Florida State faces visiting Savannah State Nov. 24 in its regular season opener.
