TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) – Tim Pickett led five Florida State double-figure
scorers with 14 points as the Seminoles used fast starts in both halves to
cruise to an 81-67 victory over Georgetown, Ky.
Florida State forward Alexander Johnson scored 13 points and Von Wafer,
Anthony Richardson and Todd Galloway each added 10. The Seminoles (2-0) opened
up a 32-point lead, 68-36 on Galloway’s transition basket with 10:15 to play.
Georgetown, a perennial NAIA final four contender, missed its first 13 shots
as the Seminoles opened the game with a 12-0 lead on Adam Waleskowski’s
3-pointer. Will Walker’s 3-pointer at 11:36 ended the Tigers’ scoreless
Georgetown closed out the game with a flurry against Florida State’s
reserves. The Tigers (5-1), who got a game-high 22 points from Marshall
Williams, pulled within 13 twice in the final minute.
FSU led 40-22 at the half and used a 13-2 run to start the second half to
put the game away.
