TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) — Al Thornton scored 17 points to lead Florida State to an 85-62 victory over Louisiana-Monroe (3-5) Friday night.
Florida State, a 40-point winner against Purdue on Tuesday, led by as many as 42, but failed to score in the final 5:19 of the game. The Seminoles exploited a size advantage to pound out 36 points in the paint.
James Perkins led Louisiana-Monroe with 16 points off the bench, including a string of three consecutive 3-pointers in the first half. Roshon Jacobs scored 11 points and Cecil Hood added 10 points.
The Seminoles used runs of 8-0, 12-2 and 13-3 to distance themselves from the Indians in the first half. The Seminoles also helped their cause by committing just 14 turnovers, while forcing the Indians into 23 turnovers.
