Seminoles End Careers At NCAA Singles Tournament

ATHENS, Ga. – Seniors Jean-Yves Aubone and Vahid Mirzadeh finished their careers at Florida State with a loss in the NCAA Division I Men’s Tennis Singles Championships. Both of the Seminoles lost to a pair of Buckeyes in the first round at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex on the campus of the University of Georgia.

No. 31 Aubone (Miami, Fla.) faced the No. 7 seed Chase Buchanan, No. 8 in the nation, of Ohio State. He lost the match 6-4, 6-2. Aubone closes out a stellar career at Florida State as a two time All-American and one time ACC Player of the Year. This season Aubone was named to the All-ACC team for the third time and is the ITA Southeast Region’s Senior Player of the Year.

No. 54 Mirzadeh won the first set 6-0 against Ohio State’s No. 23 Justin Kronauge but failed to win the next two in his first singles tournament. Kronauge won 0-6, 6-1, 7-5. The Wellington, Fla., native was named to the All-ACC team this season as he posted a 20-6 singles record.
