Florida State took to the road Saturday as they took on the University of South Florida at the USF Tennis Courts in Tampa. The 35th ranked Bulls got off to a strong start and didn’t look back as they defeated the Seminoles by a score of 6-1. Florida State will return to action on Wednesday, March 6th, when they host Penn State.
The Seminoles did not get off to the start they were looking for as they lost two of three doubles. Gustav Bucht and Romain Jurd earned the lone win in doubles play as they defeated Jorge Escallon and Nadim Naser of South Florida, 8-4. Escallon is currently ranked 140th nationally.
Senior Bucht earned the lone singles win on the day at the No. 6 position, as he defeated Naser of South Florida by a score of 4-6, 6-3, 6-2. In No. 5 singles, Florida State’s Alex Herrera performed well, but fell to Escallon, 7-5, 7-6.
The Seminoles return home on March 6th, as they take on Penn State University. The match is scheduled for a 3:30 p.m. start.
