Seminoles’ First Exhibition Game Is Oct. 30

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (seminoles.com) –
The Florida State men’s basketball team, who will begin play in the new ACC this season, will open its two-game exhibition season as its plays host to Southeastern University (Fla.) Oct. 30 at 7:00 p.m. at the Donald L. Tucker Center. Admission to the game, as well as parking at the Tucker Center, is free to all of fans attending the game.

Florida State welcomes back an experienced roster with four returning starters from its 2013 NIT team. All-American candidate Okaro White, who is the Seminoles’ leading returner in scoring and rebounding (12.4 ppg and 5.9 rpg), headlines the list of returning starters. Joining White as returning starters are point guard Devon Bookert (6.5 ppg and 2.4 apg) and guard Aaron Thomas (6.0 ppg and 2.4 rpg). Senior Ian Miller (5.3 ppg and 1.6 rpg) also returns to the line-up as one of top scoring threats in the ACC.

Coming off of a 15-17 run last season in its first season under head coach R-Jay Barsh, Southeastern returns three starters, including junior Tim Mitchell (8.7 ppg and 7.4 rpg), sophomore Brandon Moore (8.4 ppg and 7.4 rpg) and junior Jordan Talley (11.6 ppg and 4.0 rpg) who lead the team in assist last season with 39, to their 2013-14 team. Southeastern went 5-11 in NAIA Sun Conference play and finished 9th in conference for the 2013-14 season.

Florida State plays host to Flagler College in its second exhibition game Nov. 4 at 7:00 in the annual game to benefit the Aubry Boyd Foundation. Boyd starred for the Seminoles from 1988-91 before a tragic accident left him as a paraplegic in 1995. Tickets for this game at $5 with all proceeds going to the Aubry Boyd Foundation.

Florida State opens its regular season at home against Jacksonville on Nov. 8th at 8:00 p.m. and will play five non-conference home games before ACC competition begins with a home game against Virginia on January 4.
