TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Florida State men’s tennis team continues the fall season with a stop in Atlanta, Ga., for the ITA Southeast Regional Championships beginning Friday. The Seminoles play the top players from 16 other schools from Florida and Georgia.
“Having one of the strongest regions in the country makes this a challenging event,” said head coach Dwayne Hultquist. “Benjamin won his first six singles matches of the year and got through qualifying at All-Americans while Cristian ran through the Bedford Cup to win it two weeks ago. Those guys are feeling good with their games. Both are in real good shape and have been very hungry this fall.”
Hosted by Georgia Tech, competition begins at 8 a.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the Ken Byers Tennis Center, it continues at 9 a.m. on Monday and Tuesday. One of 16 regionals held around the country, the champions from singles and doubles advance to the USTA/ITA Nation Indoor Intercollegiate Championships at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing, N.Y., next month.
