Seminoles Go For Season Sweep At Clemson

FLORIDA STATE SEMINOLES 9-11, 4-5 ACC
The Seminoles snapped an eight-game February ACC losing streak with a 66-61 home win over Wake Forest last Saturday. Damous Anderson led FSU with 19 points while Ron Hale added 15…Anderson has scored in double figures in his last nine games and is averaging 17.6 points on 51.9 percent shooting (56-of-108) during the stretch…Hale is averaging 21.4 points on 50.0 percent shooting (36-of-72) in five conference road games. In four league games at home, he is averaging just 14.0 points on 34.9 percent shooting (15-of-43)…Senior Oliver Simmons, coming off his first career double-double at NC State, had 10 points and eight rebounds in the win over Wake Forest. He is averaging 10.5 points and 9.5 rebounds in his last two games…Anderson (40.5 percent) and Hale (39.7 percent) rank second and third respectively in the ACC in three-point shooting. Florida State ranks second as a team in that category at 37.2 percent…Sophomore David Anderson has not blocked a shot in his last three games and has scored four points over his last four.


CLEMSON TIGERS 8-15, 2-8 ACC
The Tigers are coming off a 79-63 loss at Wake Forest on Tuesday night. Sophomore guard Will Solomon led the Tigers with 29 points in the game and leads the ACC in scoring at 21.1 points per contest. He has scored in double figures in every game this year and has 12 20-point games…Clemson has outrebounded 19 of its 23 opponents this season and leads the conference in rebound margin at 6.1 (40.3-34.2)…Four Tiger players – Solomon (35.8), Edward Scott (32.2), Andrius Jurkunas (31.2) and Adam Allenspach (30.9) – are playing at least 30 minutes per game…Allenspach is the only other Clemson player averaging in double figures (11.5 ppg). He ranks seventh in the ACC in rebounding at 7.1 per game.

THE GAME
Saturday’s game marks the 31st meeting between Florida State and Clemson. The series dates back to Dec. 28, 1951 and the Seminoles lead 17-13…FSU took the first meeting of the season with a 60-57 victory in Tallahassee on Jan. 12 behind 18 points apiece from Ron Hale and Damous Anderson…Florida State is 12-7 versus the Tigers since joining the ACC in 1991-92 and is 4-4 in Littlejohn Coliseum. The Seminoles have lost three of their last four times there…FSU is gunning for its fourth regular season series sweep of Clemson since joining the league. Florida State previously did it in 1992-93, 1993-94 and 1994-95…Five of the last eight games in the series have been decided by six points or less.
