Seminoles Hand Out Team Awards After Wake Forest Victory

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. –

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

MAREN VIK EDVARDSEN

Had one of her best games in our 2-0 win over No. 20 Wake Forest. The timing of her runs was fantastic from the moment she entered the Wake game and she played a key role in helping us maintain possession of the ball. Her flick-on that led to our first goal was fabulous. She took enough off of that ball that it landed perfectly at Emma’s feet and gave us a lead in a very important match. That assist did a lot for her confidence and may have helped her put the game away in the second half. Her goal was similar to the one she got against Florida. She took that seam pass and she was off to the races and beat their keeper. We’ve been needing someone else to step up and help Emma Breland and Cindy Schofield as a front-runner and hopefully her performance will carry over to the rest of our schedule.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

KRISTIN BOYCE

Her decision-making and defensive prowess have been very good and she did a great job improving her possession of the ball. I thought she did a great job at increasing the number of balls that were played forward to her teammates feet or with the perfect pace. She went up against some very formidable attacking forwards from Wake and played a solid 90 minutes. She is continually making contributions to our success and I don’t think any of our newcomers can be called freshmen anymore. Boyce has as many minutes as any of our freshmen and hopefully she can continue to perform at a high level against NC State and North Carolina.
