TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Hitting the road for the first time in 2017, No. 6/4 Florida State (2-0-0) will head to the state of Alabama for a pair of games this weekend, beginning at Samford (0-2-0) on August 24 and closing up at Alabama (2-0-0) on August 27.
The match on Thursday between the Noles and Bulldogs will begin at 8:00 p.m. ET and will be streamed on the SoCon Digital Network, while Sunday’s game in Tuscaloosa will start at 1:00 p.m. ET and will be broadcast live on the SEC Network.
“We’ll certainly learn some new things about the team this week,” said FSU head coach Mark Krikorian. “We’ve been here in our nice, friendly stadium training and with everything that is comfortable for us. Now we will get out of our comfort zone and play against two really good teams and have a chance to measure ourselves against some different folks.”
Florida State owns an all-time record of 42-7-1 and has won 35 of its last 37 matches played during the month of August. The Noles are 33-2-0 in August under head coach Mark Krikorian and have outscored their opponents 123-38 all-time in August with 27 shutouts.
The Noles have won both previous games in the series with Samford, 2-0 in 2011 and 4-0 in 2016. This will be the first road and regular season game in the series as each match was played in Tallahassee during the NCAA Tournament.
Sunday’s match will be the first-ever meeting between Florida State and Alabama, yet there will be some familiarity between the two programs. Alabama head coach Wes Hart was an assistant coach at Florida State in 2013-2014, helping lead the Seminoles to the 2014 NCAA National Championship. Hart has been at the helm of Alabama since the start of the 2015 season.
Florida State is 38-21-4 all-time against teams in the SEC, and will also play against Kentucky (Sept. 3) and Florida (Sept. 8) later this year.
Live stats and broadcast links for both matches will be available on Seminoles.com. Admission is free for both the Samford and Alabama games this weekend.
