TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Florida State football team scrimmaged for 2 1/2 hours this morning, and will return for an evening workout around 6:30 p.m.

“We had good weather for a change,” said head coach Bobby Bowden. “It was a pretty good scrimmage.”

Highlights from the morning scrimmage included two touchdown catches from freshman wide receiver Anquan Boldin. First, Chris Weinke connected with Boldin from 26 yards out and then Marcus Outzen hit Boldin for a seven-yard score later on.

“Boldin made some nice catches and had a good scrimmage,” said Bowden. “He makes it look so effortless.”

In his first action since the Virginia game last season, Chris Weinke led all quarterbacks with 149 yards passing on 10 of 23 passing with one touchdown and one interception.

“Weinke did a good job,” said Bowden. “On the first drive, we didn’t make some catches. After that we were able to move the ball. That was his first scrimmage since last November. He worked the pocket real good and began to get better and better as the scrimmage went on.”

Defensively, safety Sean Key returned a pass, tipped by Tommy Polley, 55 yards for a touchdown and defensive linemen Jamal Reynolds and David Warren each recorded 2 1/2 sacks. Linebacker Brian Allen led the defense with an interception and a fumble recovery.
