Florida State safety Chris Hope has been selected as a preseason All-American by the football writers and editors of ABC Sports Online. Hope, who has played in three consecutive national championship games, was an All-ACC second-team selection as a junior and is a two-year starter for the Seminoles. Florida State ranked sixth in overall defense as it allowed a scant 10.3 points and 277.0 yards of total offense in 12 regular season games last season.
Hope has also been named to the watch list for the Jim Thorpe award that is presented annually to the nation’s top defensive back.
Hope is also a contender for Academic All-American honors after earning All-America first-team honors for his extraordinary classroom work as a junior. He will earn his bachelor’s degree in communications in December as he is scheduled to complete his undergraduate career in only 3 ? years.
