TALLAHASSEE, FLA. – Florida State will host its second Atlantic Coast Conference competition of the season as Boston College makes the trip to Tallahassee to play three games on March 29-30. The Seminoles enter the weekend with a 27-12 overall and 4-2 ACC record, while the Eagles are 18-15 and 1-2 in conference play.
The Seminoles lead the series with the Eagles 6-1 all-time and 4-1 since Boston College joined the ACC in 2005. Florida State comes in on a three game winning streak that included Cal State Fullerton on March 22 at the Judi Garman Classic and a home doubleheader sweep against Georgia Southern on March 26. Boston College is on an eight-game winning streak after its doubleheader sweep of Holy Cross also on March 26.
Senior pitcher Tiffany McDonald is 2-1 when pitching against the Eagles and tops the pitching staff this season with an 11-3 record and a 1.17 ERA. McDonald threw her first no-hitter of the season in the 8-0 victory over Georgia Southern on Wednesday night.
Always a threat on offense is senior outfielder Whitney Buckmon and first baseman Brittany Osmon with their .383 and .364 batting averages, respectively. Both are in the top five in the ACC with Buckmon leading in hits with 44 and Osmon on top with 34 RBIs and 68 total bases after 39 games this season. In conference play, Osmon leads with eight RBIs and is tied for first with six runs scored. Buckmon is tied for second with her teammate for on base percentage with .500 after six ACC match-ups.
