Tallahassee, Fla. –Florida State volleyball hosts its first match in the month of October against Georgia Tech on Friday, Oct. 5, followed by Clemson on Sunday, Oct. 7. Friday’s 7:00 p.m. match-up will be televised on FSN/Sun Sports and at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday you can catch the Seminoles and Tigers on ACC Select.
The Seminoles will participate in the ‘Dig for the Cure’, benefiting the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, as they take on the Yellow Jackets on Friday. All proceeds from the evening will be donated to the North Florida Komen Affiliate. For more information, log onto www.komen.org.
“The Scoop” On Georgia Tech:
Leads the all-time series against Florida State 24-8.
The Seminoles won on the road but fell at home against the Yellow Jackets last season.
Ranked No. 3 in the ACC coming into the match with Florida State, projected to finish second in the conference in the pre-season poll.
Third in the conference for team hitting percentage (.219), team assists (771), and kills (829).

“The Scoop” On Clemson:
Florida State leads the all-time series 21-16.
Clemson is undefeated in the ACC (No. 2) and won both matches in three against the Seminoles last season.
The Tigers’ Meghan Steiner tops the conference with a .424 hitting percentage while teammate Didem Ege leads in the digs category with 257.
Clemson as a team is second in the ACC for digs (851), kills (750), assists (679) and hitting percentage (.272).
The Last Time: Clemson @ FSU, Nov. 3, 2006 – The Tigers took down the Seminoles in a 3-0 on Lucy McDaniel Court (16-30, 21-30, 21-30).
Florida State in the ACC…
The Seminoles enter the match against Georgia Tech ranked 10th in the conference. Junior Mira Djuric tops the ACC in service aces with 38 total and an average of 0.81 per game which also moves her to No. 4 in the NCAA in that category. Djuric is also No. 3 for points (225.5, 4.80 avg.) in the conference while sophomore Brianna Barry holds at sixth for hitting percentage with .362 on 134 kills for the season.
Weissing Looks To Break FSU Record
Senior libero Summer Weissing entered the 2007 season ranked No. 3 for career digs with 1,379, only 47 behind second place and 392 behind record-holder Luiza Ramos. So far this season, Weissing has recorded 176 digs in 47 games with an average of 3.74 per game, moving her to second in university history. She now needs only 216 digs this season to break the Ramos’ record.

Baker Records First Double-Double This Season…
Sophomore setter Nikki Baker had her best game this season against Wake Forest on Sept. 30th. Baker recorded the first double-double of the team with 64 assists and 16 digs and also had four kills, one block assist and 5.5 points. The Seminoles went on to win the match 3-2 (28-30, 30-25, 30-27, 29-31, 15-11).
