TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Florida State men’s tennis team is set to host the Miami Hurricanes on Saturday, February 8th at 2 p.m. at the Scott Speicher Tennis Center. The Seminoles enter the match undefeated and boasting a 4-0 record on the season. The 26th ranked Hurricanes enter the match with a 1-1 record.
The Seminoles will be looking to break a five-match skid against the Hurricanes dating back to 1994. Miami holds the all-time series record, 42-5. The Seminoles will look for leadership from senior Xavier Luscan, who is undefeated on the season. Freshmen Chip Webb and Mat Cloer have played in each of the Seminoles matches and are also undefeated on the season.
“Anytime you play an inner-state rival, it is a huge match. Miami is generally a very strong team and very well coached,” said head coach Dwayne Hultquist. “It will be a tough match and this will be a great a opportunity to see where we are at this point in the season.”
After the match with the Hurricanes, the Seminoles will take to the road for the first time this season. On Saturday, February 16th, the Seminoles will travel to Nashville, Tennessee to take on the Commodores of Vanderbilt University. On Sunday, February 17th the Seminoles will make up their match against the Furman Paladins, which was postponed due to rain earlier this season. That match will played in Atlanta, Ga.
