Seminoles In Fourth Place After First Day At LSU Men’s Golf Invitational

BATON ROUGE, La. –
Florida State sophomore Andy Lewis is in a tie for fourth place in the individual standings and the Seminole men’s golf team is in fourth place in the team standings after the first two rounds of the Louisiana State University Spring Invitational at the University Club. The first two rounds of tournament were played today with the final round of 18 holes scheduled for Tuesday.


Lewis, who is playing in his first tournament as a Seminole after redshirting during the 2000 season, was stellar on Monday with a two-round total of 145. He shot a one-under par 71 in the first round and a two-over par 74 in round two. His first round score was the third best single-round total of the spring season for the Seminoles. The Garland, Tex., native begins play in the third and final round only four strokes behind David Inglis of Tulsa, the current individual leader.


Seminole junior Rick Westbrook is only one stroke behind Lewis after shooting a strong 146 two round total. Westbrook shot an even par 72 in round one and followed that with a two-over par 72 in the second round. Westbrook (Alto, Ga.) is currently included in a pack of six players who are all tied for sixth place.


Seminole senior Mark Donaldson is only nine strokes off the current high-water mark for the 94 golfers competing for individual medallist honors. He shot an even-par 72 in the second round and begins play in round three with a six-over par score of 150.


Louisiana State, the host school, shot a blistering seven-under par team score of 281 in round two and is the current team leader. The Tigers are followed by Tulsa (589, +13), Rhode Island (593, +17) and the Seminoles (594, +18).
