ORLANDO, Fla. – The No. 2 Florida State men’s golf team had its best round of the season with an 18-under 270 on Sunday, only three strokes behind first place Texas Tech at the Tavistock Collegiate Invitational. The Seminoles have all five players in the top 20 individual standings and is the only team to do so at the Lake Nona Golf & Country Club.
“We had a very good week of preparation and it showed today,” said head coach Trey Jones. “The guys are comfortable with their games and in good places mentally. I am looking forward to seeing how we follow up a great round tomorrow.”
Sophomore Anthony Alex is leading the Seminoles after making six birdies on the day. His 6-under 66 puts him in a tie for third place.
Junior Hank Lebioda and sophomores Jack Maguire and Josh Lee are all tied for eighth after turning in 4-under 68s. Lee posted a bogey on the sixth hole but followed that up with five birdies the rest of the way. Lebioda had four birdies on the day with three of them coming on the back nine.
