TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Florida State men’s tennis team lost a heartbreaker to
No. 11 Duke this afternoon at the Scott Speicher Tennis Center. The Seminoles complete their season with a record of 13-9 and an ACC record of 4-4. The Blue Devils complete their season with a 14-10 record and swept ACC play, finishing with a 7-0 record in the conference.
In doubles action, which took only 45 minutes to complete, Duke took the no. 1 and no. 3 matches to enter singles with the point advantage. Duke defaulted the no. 2 match, which Florida State was leading 5-4, in order to comply with travel plans.
In singles play, Chip Webb easily defeated Yorke Allen at the no. 5 spot, 6-2, 6-2. After losing the first set 6-1, sophomore Romain Jurd took the next two sets over Duke’s Jason Zimmerman to win the no. 3 singles point.
The Seminoles will next travel to Raleigh, North Carolina to compete in the ACC Tournament. The Tournament will be held April 18-21.
