Seminoles Move Into Seventh Place At Auburn Golf Tournament

Sept. 9, 2000

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. –

Florida State’s Beth McCumber (Orange Park, Fla.)
and Louise Wright (Ipswich, England) both shot rounds of four-over par 76
and the Seminoles moved into seventh place during Saturday’s action at the
Auburn University Tiger Derby Invitational. McCumber has a two-day total
of 151 (+7) and is only five strokes behind the current medalist, Courtney
Swaim of Auburn.

McCumber shot a career-low 75 during the tournament’s first round
and followed that performance with Saturday’s 76. Her combined score of
151 is the top two-day total of her collegiate career. McCumber is one of
only five players in the tournament to achieve a score of 76 or better
during both of the first two rounds of the tournament.

Wright moved into contention for the individual title with her
round of 76. She moved from a tie for 32nd place following the first round
to a tie for 17th heading into Sunday’s third and final round. Sophomore
Kristin Tamulis shot a 78 on Saturday and improved her individual standing
by five places.

The final round of the tournament begins at 8 a.m. Sunday morning.
The Seminoles are only 19 strokes behind the current second place team
Central Florida and 18 behind the third place team, Mississippi State.
