The Florida State University men’s basketball team, which has played in the postseason in each of the last two seasons, begins its exhibition season Wednesday at 8:00 p.m. against the University of West Florida. The Seminole men’s will play the second game of a doubleheader that begins with the Seminole women’s basketball team playing host to DT3 at 6 p.m. The Seminoles’ game against the Argonauts is their first of two exhibition games as they play host to Valdosta State on Nov. 6 at 7 p.m. at the Donald L. Tucker Center in Tallahassee.
FLORIDA STATE LOOKS TO KEEP FREE THROW SHOOTING PERCENTAGE ON TOP
Florida State enters the 2007-08 season looking to finish as the top free throw shooting team in the ACC for the second consecutive season. The Seminoles led the ACC with a school-record .758 percentage. In addition to leading the ACC, the Seminoles finished ninth in the nation. The Seminoles improved their free throw shooting by 5.4 percentage points – the fifth best single season jump in school history. The Seminoles’ .758 free throw shooting percentage marked the highest for a single-season in school history and was nearly three full percentage points more than the former record of .729 during the 1967-68 season.

TRIO OF SEMINOLES APPROACHING 1,000 CAREER POINTS
Three Seminoles – Toney Douglas, Jason Rich and Isaiah Swann – enter the 2007-08 season poised to become the next three players in school history to reach the coveted 1,000 career point. Douglas is the closest player to the coveted point scoring mark with 905 points and a 14.8 career points per game scoring average. He averages just over 452 points scored in his first two seasons and ranked second on the team with 380 points (12.7 ppg) despite missing five complete games with a broken hand. Rich enters his senior season with 823 career points and needs only 177 to become the 39th player in school history to reach the 1,000 points scored mark while Swann needs only 229 points to hit the century mark.

THE LAST SEASON WITH AT LEAST THREE 1,000 POINT SCORERS
The last time there were at least three Seminoles on the same team with at least 1,000 career points scored was during the 1993 season when Douglas Edwards (1,604 career points / 17.2 ppg), Sam Cassell (1,211 career points / 18.3 ppg), Rodney Dobard (1,058 career points / 8.7 ppg) and Bob Sura (1,055 points after two years / 16.2 ppg) each played on Florida State’s last NCAA Tournament Elite Eight team.
FLORIDA STATE’S LEADING CAREER RETURNERS
Florida State begins the 2007-08 season as one of the most experienced teams in the ACC. The Seminoles return four starters and three players who have played nearly 100 career games. Senior Isaiah Swann is the leading returning player in terms of career games played (96), assists (114), 3-point field goals made (118) and steals (114). Junior Toney Douglas is the Seminoles’ leading returning scorer with 905 career points in only two seasons, and Jason Rich has pulled down a team leading 275 rebounds during the first three years of his career.
