Seminoles Place Nine On 2015 All-ACC Academic Team

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Success for Florida State isn’t only measured by on-field wins and losses, but also by excelling in the classroom. Once again, the Seminoles have been the best in the Atlantic Coast Conference in both regards, as the Noles placed a league-high nine student-athletes on the 2015 All-ACC Academic Women’s Soccer Team.

It is the second straight year that the Seminoles have earned an ACC Championship on the pitch and also had the most players on the All-ACC Academic Team as seven earned academic accolades in 2014. The nine honorees on the 2015 All-ACC Academic Team is an FSU record, surpassing 2011’s total of eight. The Noles have placed 49 student-athletes on the All-ACC Academic Team since 2009, an average of seven per season.

“Having nine players recognized for their academic accomplishments on a team that, once again, played in the College Cup speaks volumes to the quality of the students and quality of the athletes we have here at Florida State,” said FSU head coach Mark Krikorian. “When we are recruiting players, we tell them our expectations are excellence on the field, in the classroom and in the community. This is another example of the success that our team continues to achieve.

“It is also a reflection of the academic support we have at Florida State. Cathy Badger (Associate Director of Student-Athlete Academic Services) and her team do an outstanding job of assisting our student-athletes with tutoring, planning class schedules as well as study halls when we’re on the road.”

Senior Megan Campbell was selected for the All-ACC Academic Team for the third time in her career, while sophomore Emma Koivisto and seniors Carson Pickett, Isabella Schmid and Cheyna Williams earned their second conference academic honor. Senior Michaela Hahn, redshirt junior Kirsten Crowley, along with freshmen Natalia Kuikka and Kaycie Tillman received their first All-ACC Academic honors.
